Taxi Demolishes Bakkie

Image by ER24 EMS (Pty) Ltd.
Three people were seriously injured after a taxi collided into a stationary bakkie on West Street in Durban’s CBD, early this morning.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find a taxi lying on its side blocking two lanes of the road and a bakkie completely destroyed in a parking bay next to the taxi.

Three occupants from the taxi were found lying outside the taxi complaining of severe neck and back injuries. They were stabilised and transported to Life Entabeni Hospital in a serious but stable condition. No one else was injured in the accident.

The owner of the bakkie who just looked on in shock as his bakkie was a complete right off was just gratefully that he was not inside the bakkie at the time of the accident occurred. It is unclear what caused the taxi driver to lose control as West street is rather straight road.

The necessary authorities were on the scene and an investigation would be done into the accident.
