How can I prevent this “injury”…..?
Question by Ryan M: How can I prevent this “injury”…..?
So I’m a sprinter. And this region of my leg is always weak and it has a sharp pain when I run. The place Im talking about is on the inside of my lower leg, right below my calf. Not on the back of my leg, but on the inside. It always feels weak and bruised.
How can I prevent this?
In this picture, its located right at the Soleus M.

Im pretty sure its due to the force I put on that area when I am running on the balls of my feet, but I dont know how to prevent getting this injury. I obvoiusly can’t just stop running…since im a sprinter.

Thanks for the description, but i still don’t think anyone can really understand where it truly is. every time i have an injury, i go to my doctor or my chiropractor, and get them to tell me the name of the muscle or tendon that is the problem. then with that information, i go to the web, get a good picture of where it’s located, like an autonomy picture, and then i just put my common sense to heal it. its not rocket science.
stretch b4 and after you run and take it easy you dnt wanna blow it out b4 a race im n high school n injured my knee but after i got beter streching b4 and after helped build my strength back but rite me and il explan futher details
Sounds like shin splints:

A team member of mine had the same “injury” a couple of years ago, same place, same pain. It sounds like it could possibly what is called muscle compartment syndrome. My teammate ran on his toes all the time, which builds up the lower calf, causing it to grow a ton. The thing is though your calf can only grow so much until it is limited by its muscle “compartment”. When that happens pressure builds causing pain. Treatment involves surgery or no running. But maybe I’m wrong, so go see your doctor.
physical therapy – doctor first of course
massage it with a hot towel
If the pain feels like it is coming from the muscle, you’re probably OK and it will go away. However, if you think the pain is coming from a tendon or even the bone you may be in trouble. You may be suffering from shin splints or even a stress fracture, which could be very serious and will only get worse. I would recommend seeing a doctor or getting an MRI to make sure. If you have a stress fracture you might not be running for a month otr more.
Looks like muscle, which means you are using it too much. Lots of people over train, so I recommend icing it for ten minutes a few times a day, taking some aspirin (or other) and taking a couple of days off so it can heal. And that means avoid suing it, getting up on your toes, etc, it needs some real rest. Two days off will not affect your fitness level.
If it’s tendon, you’re playing with fire. Once those things go you’re done for the season, they can take months to heal.
