If I Were To Become A Chiropractic Technician, What Would I Have To Do Afterwards To Become A Chiropractor?

28 October 2009

There is a 2 year tech school program to become a chiropractic technician that I am thinking about taking. It says that further education may be required to advance to become a chiropractor. What exactly would I have to do after I finished my tech school program? My school doesn’t offer any other chiropractic classes after the technician.

  1. Chiropractors generally have a four year degree, and then 3 years of chiropractic college. (Sometimes the senior year of college and the first year of chiropractic school can be taken congruently.)
Some of the tech school classes may transfer (Be wary of the term “limited transferability of credit hours.”) to be applied to a bachelor’s degree, but it is likely you would still be looking at (at least) six additional years of full time schooling.

  2. I asked my chiropractor
He is not aware of a “chiropractic technician” in the US. there are 2 year programs to certify assistants to do many of the duties at the DC office…take patient history, do vital signs, take x-rays, use PT equipment..etc. None of these courses transfer to earn DC degree in US schools.
Minimum prerequsits for DC college is two years pre-med.
Google “Chiropractic college”. the various school sites will show detailed answers to your question.
    Good luck with your choice!

  3. Never heard of it. Is this in Canada or something?
It just sounds like their version of a medical assistant.
I’m quite sure none of the classes would transfer to Chiropractic school, except any normal science prerequisites they might make you take.
    Good luck.

  4. Nope, because the title just comes with the name
