Is It Better To Work Out Before Or After A Chiropractor Adjustment?

I’ve been visiting the chiropractor 1-2 times a week just to keep my neck and back pain in check. I also like to work out including running, ab exercises, etc. I was planning on going to the gym before my adjustment and then just thought it might be better to do it the other way around because I know that the muscles in your neck have to heal after an adjustment. So- would it be better to work out after my neck’s been adjusted? Thanks for the knowledgable answers.

Definitely work out before your chiropractic adjustments. Exercising afterwards is going to throw off your adjustment.
It shouldn’t make a difference. If you make the Chiropractor aware of the fact that you had been working out, then they will be able to take that into consideration when they are assessing you.
It’s important to keep active after an adjustment, not to go back into a completely passive state. Keep the muscles in the area moving so that they can remain free, and not cramp right up.
I weight train regularly, most times i have my adjustments then work out straight afterwards. Will this have any affect?
I will agree with Cherokee Billie. However, after an adjustment is a good time to work out because you’ve made new neuromuscular changes to your body after an adjustment and normal movement actually enhances the firing of mechanoreceptors to the brain, thus improving upon holding and maintaining the changes.
