Misconception #1 – All chiropractors twist and crack the joints of the spine.

No, not true. There are tons of different techniques for adjusting the spine, including instrumental adjusting, the activator, electronic stimulation, using drop mechanisms on chiropractic adjusting tables, pressure techniques, low force adjusting, and the list goes on.

Misconception #2 – Once you begin care, you will have to go for the rest of your life.

No. The truth is you decide how much care you want and how long you want care. The patient may choose from getting symptom relief to total correction to lifetime wellness. It is always up to the patient. And a quality North Scottsdale Chiropractor will spend a decent amount of their time educating you on preventative care.

Misconception #3 – I can “crack” my neck and back and get the same results as an adjustment.

No. It’s certainly not that simple. Chiropractors spend 7 to 8 years learning the complex anatomy of the spine and nervous system. They also learn when your body needs an adjustment or other form of treatment and when not to be adjusted. By “cracking” your own neck and back you are actually stretching and causing small tears in the tendons and ligaments between the spinal bones.

Misconception #4 – Chiropractic care is expensive.

No. When you compare chiropractic to all other health care delivery systems; it is relatively cheap. There are numerous studies that show how very inexpensive chiropractic care truly is. For example: one year of chiropractic care can be less expensive than a weekend stay in the hospital?

Misconception #5 – Chiropractors only treat headaches, neck and back pain.

No. Chiropractors adjust subluxations that are present in the spine aiding the nervous system and helping the body function better. So it really does not matter what ailment you suffer from, the chiropractor will be treating the subluxation, not your symptom. The symptoms however will cease once the root of the problem is taken care of; assuming you have a quality North Scottsdale chiropractor.

Misconception #6 – You have to be a certain age to be adjusted.

No. This is a common misunderstanding and research has proven that anyone can be adjusted from a baby 2 hours old to a 100-year-old person. The benefits are the same no matter what the age. Anyone that has a spine and nervous system can be adjusted and can benefit from the adjustment.

Misconception #7 – Patients feel pain from or with an adjustment.

No. When done properly, not only does it not hurt, it actually feels really good to the patient. It really makes the patient feel relaxed and in tune with their bodies for maybe the first time in their lives. It’s like putting two pieces of a puzzle together and all of a sudden everything just works out better.
