Question by Mega: bad pelvic pain. by docs decided it is psychogenic bc of being sexually abused & raped. They wont treat. help!?
I’ve had horrible pelvic and lover back pain for going on three years now. it really interferes with my life. Even though i do have endometriosis doctors told me it shouldnt be causing this much pain. after many tests done my doctors told me that the pain is “psychogenic” due to the fact that i was sexually abused and raped from the time i was 5 until i was 9. they said there is no “Physical problem” that they can treat, or treat the pain. I’ve tried all over the counter meds and they just don’t work. I dont know what to do!! please help!

If this is really a psychological thing then perhaps counselling might help with the problem long term. Short term, you could try and ger some strong painkillers. You could also go to another doctor to double-check their diagnosis, just to be safe. If your doctors could give you a prescription for painkillers, even just for a little while, this would probably help you while you have the counselling. Hope this problem works out.

Hun, if your doctors can’t find anything medically wrong, you will not get pain medication. Perhaps you could try to receive psychological counseling.
Whether the pain is psychogenic or not, you deserve some treatment of it. I would suggest speaking to a homeopathic or naturopathic doctor. They treat the whole person, not just a symptom or two like a western medicine doctor would. A good ND will guide you through life-style changes that will help to relieve your pain, regardless of its source.
Keep going to doctors until one of them believes you. Endo most def is painful for one thing. They have done ultrasounds of your ovaries and the rest of your reporductive system?
If they have and can’t find any physical cause for your severe pain, I would think that a reputable Pain Management doctor in your area could help manage your pain issues.
Have you been thru counseling for the sexual abuse you suffered?
Like I said, continue to go to docs until you find one that has a heart and can help you get to the bottom of this, no one should have to be in agony.
