Q&A: Terrible back pain. Can hardly walk. Left mid to upper back.?
Question by Steve: Terrible back pain. Can hardly walk. Left mid to upper back.?
Help me!!! All I can remember doing was picking up my newborn daughter who weighs 5lbs, felt the normal, “Ouch, think I pulled a muscle” feeling. Woke up almost impossible to walk. I actually thought I was having a heart attack since the pain seems to be right behind where my heart is. If I take my shirt off, you can actually tell that my body looks kinda crooked, with more love handle on my left side. Been taking 1400mg worth of motrin with no relief.
Please help me, I have been out of work for a week due to my childs birth, I am due back tomorrow, and I dont want to miss more work.

You did not mention when this happened. If it’s within a day or two it may simply be a muscle strain and resolve on it’s own. If it’s been more than that and you’ve had no relief with ibuprofen, it is possible you have an disc protrusion that has resulted in an acute lateral shift in your spine. I would recommend you see your physician and see if he/she will refer you to physical therapy. I would recommend you see one who has completed the credentialling in mechanical dianosis and therapy. Good luck.

Sounds like a perfect reason to visit a Chiropractor. You don’t need a referral from your GP, so you can simply ring and make an appointment.
Also, they will have the ability to manage your pain, and possibly have you right to go by the time you are ready for work the next day.
This sort of pain is typical of what they are trained to deal with, and do so every day, making them one of the preferred non-invasive options.
