Severe back pain in upper right shoulder blade/scapula area?

Question by Just Me: Severe back pain in upper right shoulder blade/scapula area?
For some time now, over a year, I’ve been having pains in my back, near my scapula, I forgot what the name of the muscle is, I should know because I’m in anatomy, but it starts with a T..like trapez..something.

But yeah, in the link I gave, it’s always in the highlighted area, either that whole area or just one certain point where I could point to:

Anywayy…about 6 months ago I was in a SLIGHT car accident, all we did was get bumped at a red light but I already had this pain for quite a while, and I went to the ER, but that side didn’t even hurt, it was my spine and left side of my neck, I had a “severe muscle spasm” (doctor put it in simple terms for me haha) and then told me to go to an orthopedics but I never did because after 2 days the pain went away and to this day I don’t have any problems, could that have any affect on my other side?

I don’t know where to go, if I should see a chiropractor or an othropedic..what do you think is causing this pain…sometimes it’s so bad I can’t lay down, sit or stand because it’s so bad, others, like right now, it’s only a little. What should I do, and do you have any idea what’s causing this? I wear a bra to bed, and it’s near my brastrap si would that cause it? When I take it off I still have pain but not as bad.

you probably have a separated rib where it joins your spine. A lot of your nerves are there and are probably pinched. Get xrayed before you see a chiropractor, and get a lot of therapy. Dont let anybody manipulate your spine unless an ortho. oks it. You are probably in for a long haul of treatment, and even that will disappoint you. You are seriously injured. Believe me a good therapist can do wonders but it takes time. It is so easy to hurt ones ribs and so hard to heal them. good luck
