Stuck in the middle of a Divorce?
Question by ULTRAFRESH: Stuck in the middle of a Divorce?
Here’s the problem.
I am 15 years old at the moment.
My Mom and Dad have just recently Divorced but I have been living with my Dad for over a year. At first my Mom would call me alot. (daily) then her calls gradually decreased over time. Then she hardly called me at all, and i would hardly spend time with her. I think its because i hate talking to her for some reason all i do is say, “Kay.” or “OK” on the phone. Heres where it gets interesting:
She has been getting MY Social Security on behalf over her “Back Injury”. Now, my dad went to court the other day to finally settle the Divorce. My Dad tells me she is trying to file for complete custody of me for more money. My mom tells me my Dad is trying to file complete Custody of me. Then my Dad tells me recently at court after they had brought up the Social Security situation my Mom had flipped out and told my Dad, “I will get Jonathan. You wait and see.” My dad also told me that i have to see my Mom on weekends and tuesday’s.
She’s calling me and telling me about how broken her heart is… and all this crap.
But is she just trying to get custody of me for money?
Is my Dad lying about my Mom so that i can stay with him?
Who should i believe?
What should i do?
Help!

Your mom does love you Jonathon. Divorice’s are incredibly painful things for people. She may not show the pain all the time but it is always there.
I think she’s feeling very hurt about the divorice and is lashing out a bit. Also sounds like she is telling you things she shouldn’t, just keep in mind she’s trying to reach out to someone because she is suffering emotionally.
Well you are 15 and that is old enough to know the truth from your mother. Why not just ask her when you see her next? Ask her why she really wants full custody of you. You may be surprised with the answer.
