Why ask questions about Americans travel habits and then pick the answer that fulfils a stereotype?

Question by slipstreamer: Why ask questions about Americans travel habits and then pick the answer that fulfils a stereotype?
I have seen many questions that ask about the fact that Americans don’t travel as much as other nationalities. There were many good thoughtful answers such as the following:
The reason why so many Americans don’t travel abroad is because they have no money or enough vacation time to do so. It is not unusual for Americans to work 60 hours a week, without any “benefits” such as health insurance, paid vacations, or even enough salary to get by. That’s also the main reason people join the military, because they want to see the world. Plus, traveling from the US is extremely expensive compared to the rates we have in Europe. And last, but not least, we are talking about extreme distances as well.

Yet the asker seems to always pick the answer of Ameicans hating other countries and cultures, being scared of travel etc…I mean, why bother to ask? Why broadcast more stereotypes? Doesn’t this show a bias and closed mindedness – just what you accuse the Americans of?

i am young and have made some money and lost some money. When i had it i have travled and i have seen americans traveling and the one thing i notice is americans feel when they travel they think they r still in the US like all should speak english among other things. Also one thing that really gets to me is something ive seen quite often……….that is making fun of others languages in front of the foreign language speaker. Im american and i speak other languages and have been made fun of (it was funny to me how stupid these americans were) then i shocked them by asking them what was so funny in spoken english. Most americans are afraid to travel cus we also feel like a target and we are not used to traveling abroad.
