Question by courtneyinnz: Joint pain. Extremely painful in the evening..?
I’ve been getting joint pain for a long time. First started getting pain in my left knee when I was a little kid [about 7 or 8 I think] not from an injury but just gradually came on. Now I’m 16 and get pain in my ankles, knees, hips, elbows, wrists & fingers. I have read a little bit about arthritis but sort of discarded it as for me the worst time of the day is the evening, and the information about arthritis doesn’t say anything about this. In the evening the pain can be excruciating – its an achy pain but sometimes gets so intense it sort of becomes a sharp pain. It’s made worse if I’ve been in cold weather.
The pain isn’t always bad – sometimes just hurts when I go up stairs etc but I figure thats normal. But then I go through little phases of about a month long where the pain is really bad. I can’t do my hair, put a necklace on, etc, because the throbbing pain in my elbows is unbearable. Last night was one of the worst yet – my ankles knees and hips mostly. I was so uncomfortable no matter what I did and was in tears from the really horrible intense pain. It got a bit better after I took pain killers, anti-inflamatorys, and rubbed anti-inflammatory cream on the joints – but still wasn’t completely gone and I had trouble getting to sleep.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I expect I’ll get the typical “growing pain” response but I don’t know anyone else that has had growingpain like this. plus I’m sure I’ve stopped growing, I grew early on and havn’t grown in years.
Any opinions or advice would be appreciated. Even just some advice on what sort of things I need to specify to a doctor if I go to see one would be appreciated.
Thanks!

i will not tell you about growing pains as that is a false and ridiculous idea. sounds to me like you may have juvenile arthritis. but your best option is to see your doctor ,but avoid taking pills to hide the pain. you can also see a natural doctor for his opinions. good luck
