Question by Laydee Y: Will this complaint go to court or should I find out how to counter sue?
We disagreed on money owed (by a friend who broke her neck-I was picking something up for her) & I started to leave, he said he would call the police, I said go ahead & walked out, pretty peeved, got in my car, looked onto the street for on-coming traffic, put it in reverse, stepped on the gas to back out and get on the road(I was parked against a curb), then out pops the guy from the back of my car, he was crouched down with a pen& paper taking down my license plate number-I couldn’t see him until he jumped out. The car didn’t touch him but the complaint was that I tried to run him over. I left & returned to my friend’s house. She said she spoke to him & he said that due to his mental anguish of almost being run-over by me, he filed a commplaint for his “mental injuries”. He also said he would drop all charges but it would cost me 0.00. I called him to tell him I’d be glad to pay him what was owed (.00 was all) and he said about the same as he said to my friend… that he would drop all charges BUT it would cost me 0. A detective called me today and got my side of what happened.
I would love to see everyone’s comments on whether you think the case will go to trial or should I sue him and the place of business where he works and where this happened for slander and extortion.

Question by Mathieu L: What does he mean by “Pray” in this extract.?
“I see, I see; quite erased from the tablet. Pray, sir,” with a sudden illumination, “about six years back, did it happen to you to receive any injury on the head? Surprising effects have arisen from such a cause. Not alone unconsciousness as to events for a greater or less time immediately subsequent to the injury, but likewise–strange to add–oblivion, entire and incurable, as to events embracing a longer or shorter period immediately preceding it; that is, when the mind at the time was perfectly sensible of them, and fully competent also to register them in the memory, and did in fact so do; but all in vain, for all was afterwards bruised out by the injury.”

Question by Jumping Beans: How should I care for this “injury”?
This is gross, so don’t read if you’re squemish:

It’s not a BAD injury, but I don’t want it to get infected and I want to make sure I’m bandaging it correctly.

We practice barefoot in my tae kwon do class. I *never* walk around barefoot, so the underside of my big toe quickly developed a big blister, and then at some point during the workout it popped and tore off several layers of my skin. I still have the flap of skin attached – almost the entire pad (underside) of my big toe came off. It’s pretty gross, but it doesn’t hurt much. I didn’t even notice until we went to put our shoes back on.

So when I got home I washed it up, put some polysporin on the raw skin, closed the flap with “Nu Skin” and then bandaged it.

It’s not deep enough to require stitches, but it’s the deepest popped blister that I’ve ever had. It ripped off 2 or more layers of skin, at least.

So anyhow.. is there anything else I should do for it?

Best answer:

Answer by katiE
I would just make sure it’s clean and covered. a popped blister can lead to infection but you seem to have taken care of it pretty well. but if it starts to hurt/burn or look infected i would see a dr. for it.

Question by Enigma®Ragnarökin’: This one is for all those who claim “miracles” as proof of a deity. Do you have one that ACTUALLY qualifies?
The old blind man seeing is crap, show me a man with no eyes that grew them! The lame guy walking is a stage show gag, lets see an amputee grow his leg back. Cancer being cured is called “remission”, show me a woman who had a mastectomy for cancer and regrew her breast without reconstructive surgery. I’ve seen how miracles happen in the real world, and there is no prayer, speaking in tongues, or possession. Just lots of blood, sweat, pain, sutures, and skill. The doctors, nurses and techs do their jobs, and nature does the rest. No miraculous healing, no instant sight, although the laying on (and sometimes inside) of hands does take place over and over, all day long, every day. “miracles don’t need a scalpel, this is called surgery”
Mizz Al-Abbady: Already needed a god, but one didn’t exist then either.
Shinigami: more people than that saw David Copperfield make the Statue of Liberty disappear.
John D: you said it your own self; After he was taken to the hospital and treated

Have a nice day.
Alex T: Are you sure you’re with these others? You have a good attitude, and I appreciate your answer. I respect your belief, but cannot believe it myself. I don’t need an education in your religion, or most religions for that matter, as I am a former Christian myself with a sufficient education. Education, reason, experience, and the same scriptures that inspire you are what inspired me to my present beliefs. Answers like yours remind those of us outside your religion that not all are like the self-righteous hypocrites we’re accustomed to seeing. Thank you for your time and effort, and have a wonderful day.
ailsa w: Before my first heart attack, that might have caught my attention. I was given less than a year to live over a decade ago. No divine intervention, just exercise, diet, medication, and too mean to quit. Have a nice day.

Question by Kiki: Is this pain normal, or indicative of a condition?
I am in pain more often than anyone I know, of any age, but especially of people my age.

I’m an 18 year old female. I’m not in the best shape, but I’m not obese. I don’t think I have any vitamin deficiencies, except maybe potassium, because I get occasional charlie horses. I have had problems with my female parts (e.g. ovarian cysts, frequent periods, etc) for years. I’ve also had depression and anxiety for as long as I can remember. I don’t think it is depression pain though, because I’ve been on Cymbalta for a couple years. I am particularly sore after a day of physical activities such as shoveling snow or having sex. Mostly I chalk this up to me not being in shape, but often I notice that the pain seems to be a little too deep-seated for that; it starts to feel like my joints are creaking, like I’m some old person and that I should walk gingerly so that nothing hurts. Many times, I develop pain for no reason at all. One day I’ll just have an ache in my neck, or my calf, or my stomach. With the exception of abdominal pain (also common, probably because I don’t eat enough fiber), all the pain feels very deep. Most often it feels like it’s in a joint or a bone, less commonly in a muscle. Sometimes I get pain like growing pains used to feel: severe, coursing. But I haven’t grown in years. I also get totally random stabs of pain, most commonly in my breasts or hands. Just a quick stab, sometimes a few in succession, but then it’s gone.
The longer pains usually persist for at least a day, up to three or four. Usually I’d rate the pain at a 6. Certainly not unbearable, sometimes not even enough to make me take an aspirin, but enough to be distracting as I go about my business, and, when it persists longer, to even make me depressed, from not knowing what is wrong with me. The pain most often appears in my arms. It doesn’t feel like it would a day after lifting weights, but more how it would feel if I repeated a motion so often that it wore down my joints (apart from typing, I can’t think of anything I do that would cause this). I have a very tender spot on my upper arms; even someone pressing on it or poking it feels like they are poking a bruise, though there is never any outward signs of one. My wrists and elbows pop a lot.
I don’t smoke or do recreational drugs, I don’t drink often or a lot, I don’t even have caffeine on a regular basis.

I don’t know if I want to risk sounding crazy to a doctor. I have so many other things wrong with me, none of which should cause chronic pain, that they might think I’m becoming a hypochondriac. Only a few of my problems are really diagnosable. I’m even wondering if I’m becoming a hypochondriac. But after my mom saying a million times when I tell her about some new pain, “You’re ALWAYS in pain”, I’m beginning to think she might be right. Maybe I am in pain more than is normal. Does this sound like fibromyalgia, or rheumatoid arthritis, or something else? Will the doctors listen to me if I go to them with this problem?

Best answer:

Answer by knicname
It sounds like it could be from fibromyalgia or rheumatoid arthritis or endometriosis that can be in any part of your body.
Have you lowered your dose of Cymbalta recently? It could be withdrawal symptoms. Speak to your psychiatrist about that & about fibromyalgia.
You may need an increase in your Cymbalta to 120 mg/day. It is FDA approved to treat Fibromyalgia. You can also try Aleve or get prescription for Naproxen 500mg. 2X/day.

When you go to your MD ask them if they believe in fibromyalgia.
You can try a rheumatologist who deals with fibromyalgia.

Try to do gentle stretching & walking.

Google: mayo clinic>>diseases>>fibromyalgia
>>arthritis, rheumatoid
>>endometriosis

I was told I had rheumatoid arthritis a long time ago “before they knew about fibromyalgia”. I had similar symptoms (including swelling bilaterally in my hands in the AM…but only a high sed. rate as an objective lab finding).

I also take a very good quality, high potency multi-vitamin/mineral.
Magnesium 400-600mg
Boswellia
Malic Acid (they are all good for pain).

MDs won’t think you’re nuts, if they do, they’re the wrong MD.

Good luck.

Some cool back surgery images:

070908: this unicorn belongs to a feminist

so this picture was actually taken the morning on the 10th but only because i was too busy hitting my self as a result of the laughter that accompanied the sleepover at naz’s house.

i woke up to the new by interpol (thats wesleys ringtone) trapped inside a vibrating phone that looks like a twinkie
we talked for bit and thenit was too loud or something

i dont remember waking up the second time
it might of been jeff calling or my dad freaking out because my cousin pancho had open back surgery today and no one answered their phone down south.

i talked to allina for a bit and then i had to get ready cos naz was comin to pick me up so we could go to her show in upland.

so where to begin ….
the detour
danielles hair extensions
indian jones in the bed?

golly gosh darn it.

carmel valley to national city to north park to temecula to upland to carls jr to temecula to national city to gas station to carmel valley.

so we picked up some girl karissa likes even though she had a weird looking boyfriend for two yars and we didnt know if she ways straight or not all in hopes that karissa would make her move… but that didnt happen.
naz made her move what a great night at the debut of her full band righht which by the way sounds 1000 times more amazzing which is pretty amazing considering they were already amazing.

i smoked a couple cigarettes remet some people…
that was akward anways we headed home at about 11 stopped to eat at carls jr and omfg one person should never be allowed to eat that much fried food in one sitting. seriously.

julian was sitting in the car shotgun the whole time
and when i switched over my knees were touching my chinny chin chin.

i lit a cigarette backwards yesterday
the filter btw turns hard like rock balls
so i had to take it out and then i looked like i was smoking a fattie blunt .we got to nazs house made sure to inspect the ‘cedes for ash and then headed up.

sera was still up showering when we got there and i had to peeeeeeeeee.

the rest of the nihgt consisted of this unicorn talkin to me and telling me i was a lesbian and believe it or not this unicorn is as big as my fucking 5’3 self danielle drunk dialing us and sera making fun of karissas jacket.

ill never forget those words
"naz behave yourself and ximena girls count"

oh and how could i forget …

" whats that song"
"which one?"
"you know … yeahhh wooah lalal yeahh woah"
"uhhhhhh"

I couldn’t sleep at all the nights before and after my back surgery. I was in the hospital at 5am that day and the injections didn’t stop until 1:30am. After that I laid awake and uncomfortable through most of the night. Spent some quality time with my iPod and my camera’s limited exposure settings.

Most of these 15-30 second exposures were taken out my hospital room window between 2:30 and 4am — mere hours after having my spine operated on, and way sooner than I should have been upright, nevermind wandering around a darkened room with an IV.

You are just lacking potassium. A good preventative is eating a banana at least a couple times a week.

Question by Ryan M: How can I prevent this “injury”…..?
So I’m a sprinter. And this region of my leg is always weak and it has a sharp pain when I run. The place Im talking about is on the inside of my lower leg, right below my calf. Not on the back of my leg, but on the inside. It always feels weak and bruised.

How can I prevent this?
In this picture, its located right at the Soleus M.

http://online.academyart.edu/spotlight_class/FSH_114/module_02/images/m2_s14_leg_anatomy.jpg

Im pretty sure its due to the force I put on that area when I am running on the balls of my feet, but I dont know how to prevent getting this injury. I obvoiusly can’t just stop running…since im a sprinter.

Best answer:

Answer by just wondering
ask a doctor
