What is your opinion on “motivational speakers?”?

Question by getusedtoit: What is your opinion on “motivational speakers?”?
A guy came into my place of business today to eat lunch. While his food was being prepared, he kept telling me to believe in myself. I’m like, “dude, leave me alone, I’m fine.” I gave him no reason to go on and on like he was…because I was in a good mood today! (have no idea why he kept saying that to me). He was very friendly at first…and then I suppose he was insulted b/c I had no idea who he was. He told me his name (to which I still have no idea who he is–cannot even remember the name) and told me he was a motivational speaker. When he said that his chest puffed out and his fake grin looked plastered on his face. When I asked him if he’d read a certain “self help” book that I personally enjoyed, he put his head down, mumbled something, picked up his food and walked away. He didn’t speak to me again.

I really have no idea what happened or why, but it made me think that motivational speakers might be as phony as televangelists.

he must not walk his talk, sounds like hes all ego, just as well you forgot his name, i like wayne dyer, hes great.
