Will Tracy McGrady ever resurrect his career?
Question by Abstract: Will Tracy McGrady ever resurrect his career?
Such a sad story, a guy with such talent, who was once in discussions as the top 3 players in the league. Still haven’t gotten out of the first round, and always being plagued by “injuries” not to mention fragile, mentally. I just amazing how this guy’s career to hit, look at his team winning without him. It almost seems like the Rockets are better off without him, maybe they should have just traded McGrady. My question to you is, will he ever go back to being the player he once was and is it going to take a change of uniform?

He will not be a superstar again, at the best he will make it as a great key role player.

He has a lot of talent but I dont think he will be how good he was before
trade him to the other teams and when he is healthy. he will be better again. just like the T-MAC that we know.
if he stays healthy he is up there with wade kobe lebron he can shoot 3 great back down moves and spins can drive controls games very well can get hot he up there a complete scorer to where cp3 (who most people think is 4th best) hes a complete SCORER he doesnt pass the ball every play but cp3 and dwight are great and tied for 5th
McGrady will never be a superstar again. I don’t think he will be remembered as a high profile player either 10 to 20 years from now. Granted some of his best years were in the post-Jordan pre-Lebron years, but the overall talent back then is arguably less when compared to today’s. Some people unfamiliar with the history of the NBA don’t know who Dominique Wilkins is, how can someone expect people to remember Tracy McGrady?
Even more, the guy hasn’t won a playoff series in his life, let alone ever being in contention for the championship. He’s always been plagued by injuries, which wont be seen as an excuse years from now either. Even at age 29 he has the basketball player image of someone in their mid 30s.
Athletes that have undergone microfracture surgery are said to have about an 80% success rate. Very few have returned to their previous athletic ability (Amar’e is probably the only one). It ended Chris Webbers career, Kenyon Martin’s game took a hit, Antonio McDyess went from an impact NBA player to a veteran role player, Darius Miles has been all over the league, and we’re yet to see its effects on Greg Oden. All the mileage T-Mac has put on since being drafted in 1997 has caught up with him. After this surgery I could easily see him slip off into obscurity, coming around every now and then to make a decent shot but he wont be close to what he once was, and his injury problems will only worsen, not get better.
Once his contract is up after the 09/10 season, most teams will shy away from signing him to a long term deal, hes just not that sort of impact player anymore, especially following such a major surgery. He’ll probably bounce around a few teams, sign a few overpriced contracts to bring in a big name to sell some tickets. Its possible he could take a pay cut to be on one of those “win now” teams during the highly anticipated free agency period of 09/10 and he might finally win a playoff series, and at best a ring.
he can as long as he stays in houston stays healthy and still has yao and artest next season then next year could really be his and the rockets chance maybe they will finally make it past the first round
